Dear Lynda,

Thank you for getting in touch and for sharing your experience. I’m sorry to hear you’re still having problems following your surgery.

From what you’ve described, it sounds as though there may still be some ongoing inflammation in the area. Have you considered having manual lymphatic drainage (MLD)? In some cases, it can help encourage lymphatic flow and reduce swelling.

It may also be worth asking your surgeon whether they could refer you for ICG lymphatic imaging. This investigation can assess how well the lymphatic system is functioning in the affected area, as lymphatic disruption can sometimes occur after major surgery.

Regarding the difference in your leg length, have you considered wearing an insole or orthotics? These may help improve your alignment and overall body mechanics, making walking and standing more comfortable.

I would recommend discussing these options with your surgeon, who will be able to advise you based on your individual circumstances.

I wish you all the very best with your recovery.

After surgery the thigh was significant larger than the other leg. The swelling never went down. Now I have a mobility issue and a thigh that remains enlarged and painful to get around. Is this just my imagination? The dr. has said it will eventually go down. I think by that time I will not be able to walk. Any advice?
