What is Lymphatic Drainage post-surgery?
Lymphatic Drainage is a form of massage. Unlike some other forms of massage, It uses very light pressure, combined with soft pumping movements to drain the excess of fluid from the affected area towards the lymph nodes.
Why do you need lymphatic drainage post- surgery?
After plastic surgery such as BBL, liposuction, tummy tuck or any cosmetic surgery, your lymphatic system becomes suppressed. Therefore the lymphatic system is not filtering properly, causing you pain and fluid retention.
Daily drainage is important to relieve pain and drain excess of fluid and speed up recovery. Our treatment is designed to help you recover fast and help reduce scar tissue. The treatment is tailored based on your needs.
Benefits of Lymphatic drainage post-surgery:
- Reduce pain
- Reduce swelling and hematoma
- Prevent seroma (accumulation of serum in the area)
- Reduce fibrosis (hardening of the tissue)
- Encourage the regeneration of tissue, so reducing the formation and severity of scars
- Reduce the risk of infection.
- Help to shape the area
- Help to get better results from your surgery
What to expect during the sessions?
Before your session begins we will ask to complete a medical history and your therapist will ask all the information related to your surgical proceed.
Depending on the area and type of the surgery, your therapist might ask to undress and he or she will assist you if you can’t do it yourself.
What is treatment like?
The treatment is very light, but you might feel a bit of discomfort at the beginning of the session due to the inflammation in the area, but it will feel better once the drainage of the fluid begins.
We use various techniques and sometimes equipment to reduce pain and swelling, seroma or fibrosis. We will check if your are healing properly and give you a bespoke aftercare to achieve better results and fast recovery.
